Job summary

Catholic Education Diocese of Bathurst is seeking a caring Learning Support Officer for St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, Portland, NSW. The role supports students with diverse learning needs within an inclusive classroom, under supervising teachers, and involves data tasks for compliance and planning Personal Learning Plans.

The position is temporary, part-time (35 hours per week) with the potential for packaging benefits and ongoing career support within the Catholic Education system.

Qualifications

• Hold or are working towards Certificate III in School Based Education Support OR a NESA recognised Teaching degree.
• Valid NSW Working with Children Check.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver effective learning outcomes.
• Experience working with children with a range of needs.
• Experience in both Primary and secondary schools.

Responsibilities

• Providing in-class support for teachers and their students with learning needs
• Supporting and supervising students with additional learning needs in and out of the classroom environment
• Facilitating the remedial reading program (MacqLit)
• Assisting with data collection and maintenance for legislative compliance (NCCD)
• Administrative tasks in support of NCCD and disability provisions
• Input into the planning and implementation of Personal Learning Plans
• Collaborating with classroom teachers to ensure the inclusion of all students in all learning experiences
• Applying appropriate behaviour management strategies that contribute to the establishment and maintenance of a supportive learning environment
