Job summary

Scotch Oakburn College in Launceston, TAS, invites applications for a Learning Support Assistant in our Junior School. You will provide tailored support to individual students and small groups, collaborating with teachers and the Inclusive Education team to access the curriculum.

This fixed-term role is offered as either part-time or full-time from Term 4 2026 to the end of 2027, Monday to Friday during academic weeks, at our Elphin Campus.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting primary-aged students with diverse learning needs, including students with disability or autism.
• Certificate III or Diploma in School Based Education Support or equivalent qualification.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to build relationships with students, staff and families.
• Calm, patient and inclusive approach to supporting learning, behaviour and wellbeing.
• Strong organisation, time management and technology skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively, follow Individual Education Plans and provide observations/feedback.
• Commitment to child safety and professional learning.

Responsibilities

• Support students with individual learning needs to access the curriculum and build confidence.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and the Inclusive Education team to provide tailored support.
• Support small groups and promote an inclusive learning environment.
• Maintain effective communication with students, staff and families.
