Job summary

Apollo Parkways Primary School in Greensborough, Melbourne's outer northern suburbs, seeks a Learning Specialist in Teaching and Learning for 2027–2029. The role centers on modelling high-quality teaching, delivering demonstration lessons, and mentoring colleagues to improve literacy, numeracy and student outcomes.

You will work with the School Improvement Team to drive school-wide improvement, design professional learning, analyse student data, and foster strong partnerships with students,

Qualifications

• SC1: Expert knowledge of the relevant curriculum and ability to model exemplary teaching across the curriculum.
• SC2: Expertise in high impact teaching strategies responding to student needs and evaluating learning impact.
• SC3: Exemplary ability to monitor and assess student learning and provide data-informed feedback to students and parents.
• SC4: Strong interpersonal and communication skills with collaboration among students, staff, parents and community.
• SC5: Ability to modelDepartment values and support school-based professional learning.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate high-level expertise in teaching and learning practice.
• Model exemplary classroom practice including teaching demonstrations.
• Collaborate with the School Improvement Team to define effective teacher practice.
• Lead and model whole-school improvement strategies related to curriculum planning and delivery.
• Provide professional learning and establish observation/feedback protocols for teachers.
• Model effective learning practices and support teachers to act on feedback.
• Provide evidence-based feedback to staff to inform development.
• Offer expert advice on context, processes and strategies shaping professional learning.
• Supervise and mentor student teachers and coach teachers.
• Demonstrate exemplary use of student data to inform teaching approaches.
• Develop school-wide professional learning structures and PLCs.
• Model reflective practice and inquiry to improve practice.
