Job summary

Department of Education Victoria – Myrniong VIC is seeking a Learning Specialist who will continue to deliver high-quality teaching in the classroom while providing expertise, mentoring and coaching to teachers to improve instructional practice and student outcomes.

You will model excellence in teaching and learning, observe lessons, give feedback, and lead school-based professional learning to support wellbeing and engagement across the student body.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated expert knowledge of the relevant curriculum across year levels.
• Demonstrated ability to model high-impact teaching strategies and monitor student progress.
• Ability to use data to inform teaching practice and provide feedback to students and parents.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate high-level expertise in teaching and learning practice.
• Model exemplary classroom practice through demonstration lessons.
• Collaborate with school leadership to develop views on effective teaching practice.
• Lead and model whole-school improvement strategies for curriculum planning and delivery.
• Provide professional learning and establish observation/feedback processes for teachers.
• Mentor and coach teachers to improve instructional practice using student data.
• Offer expert advice on context and strategies shaping professional learning.
• Supervise and mentor student teachers as needed.
• Promote school-wide professional learning structures and protocols.
