Job summary

State Government of Victoria seeks Learning Specialists who will spend the majority of their time in the classroom and lead demonstration lessons, mentoring and coaching teachers to improve teaching practice, achievement, engagement and wellbeing. They will develop school-wide professional learning structures and play a key role in observing and providing feedback to staff.

Qualifications

Demonstrated expert knowledge of the relevant curriculum.
Ability to model high-impact teaching strategies and to support teachers to evaluate the impact of learning and teaching programs.
Ability to monitor and assess student learning and provide feedback on student growth to students and parents.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration with students, colleagues, parents and the school community.
Ability to model Department values and facilitate school-based professional learning.

Responsibilities

Demonstrating high-level expertise in teaching and learning practice.
Modelling exemplary classroom practice including through teaching demonstration lessons.
Leading and modelling whole-school improvement strategies related to curriculum planning and delivery.
Leading professional learning including observation and feedback processes and peer collaboration.
Providing evidence-based feedback to teaching staff to inform their development.
