Job summary

Government schools in Melbourne Northern Suburbs VIC is seeking Learning Specialists who will spend most of their time in classrooms delivering high-quality teaching and learning while mentoring teachers and leading school-wide professional learning.

You will model excellence in teaching, observe and provide feedback, and collaborate with leadership to implement improvement strategies, using student data to inform practice and support wellbeing and engagement.

Qualifications

• SC1: Demonstrated expert knowledge of the relevant curriculum and ability to model exemplary teaching practices across literacy and numeracy.
• SC2: Demonstrated expertise in high impact teaching strategies and supporting teachers to evaluate learning program impact.
• SC3: Demonstrated ability to monitor and assess student learning and provide feedback on growth to students and parents.
• SC4: Demonstrated exemplary interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration with students, parents and the school community.
• SC5: Demonstrated ability to model department values and support school-based professional learning.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate high-level teaching practice and exemplar classroom delivery.
• Model demonstration lessons and provide feedback to teachers.
• Collaborate with school leadership to define highly effective teaching practices.
• Lead and model implementation of whole-school improvement strategies in curriculum delivery.
• Coordinate professional learning processes, observation protocols and peer collaboration.
• Support teachers to analyse feedback and student data to inform practice.
• Provide expert advice on professional learning contexts and strategies.
• Supervise and mentor student teachers and coaching teachers.
