Job summary

St Mary of the Cross Catholic Primary School in Melbourne is seeking a highly skilled educator to join a vibrant community focused on academic excellence, spiritual growth and wellbeing. The 0.8–1.0 FTE teaching role offers evidence-based strategies, coaching, and professional development.

You will work with colleagues to provide explicit instruction, use data to monitor learning, and collaborate with families to support student growth within a faith-based framework.

Qualifications

• Applicants must demonstrate experience enhancing learning for individuals and small groups through explicit teaching in intervention.
• Ability to develop and maintain respectful relationships with students, families and colleagues.
• Using data to make informed decisions about learning and teaching.
• Administer, analyse and interpret diagnostic tools to pinpoint learning gaps.
• Adapt tier-2 and tier-3 curriculum materials in real time with visual models and manipulatives.
• Consistently measure student growth using progress monitoring.
• Build psychological safety and a growth mindset in students with past learning difficulties.
• Effectively communicate student data, goals and strategies with teachers, specialists and parents.
• Use Personal Learning Plans and SMART goals to assess progress.
• Strong behaviour management supporting prosocial development (PBL an advantage).
• Collaborate with teachers, leaders and Allied Health professionals.
• Adhere to child safety policies and ministerial orders.
• Commitment to Catholic education and student wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Enhance the learning of individuals and small groups through explicit teaching in intervention.

• Communicate student data, goals and strategies with classroom teachers, speech pathologists, educational psychologists and parents.
• Use Personal Learning Plans, developing SMART goals and assessing progress.
• Strong behaviour management promoting prosocial skills (PBL an advantage).
• Collaborate with teachers, leaders and Allied Health professionals for student success.
• Adhere to safety policies and codes relevant to Ministerial Order 1359.
• Commitment to Catholic education and to the safety and wellbeing of children.
