Job summary

Australian University is seeking an experienced Learning Designer to join its digital education team on an initial 6 to 8 week temporary contract. The role is full-time (35 hours/week) with a hybrid working arrangement and can be based in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane.

You will design, develop and deliver engaging, student-centred digital learning content, applying sound pedagogical principles within established templates and publishing timelines.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience as a Learning Designer, Instructional Designer or similar.
• Experience designing and developing online learning content within LMS (Canvas, Moodle or Blackboard).
• Solid understanding of adult learning principles and applying them in digital environments.

Job description

Our client, a highly regarded Australian university, is seeking an experienced Learning Designer to join their digital education team on an initial 6 to 8 week temporary contract, starting as soon as possible.

This is a full-time engagement at 35 hours per week, offered on a hybrid working arrangement. The role can be based from Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane.

About the role

You will work closely with academic and professional staff to design, develop and deliver engaging, student-centred digital learning content, applying sound pedagogical principles within established templates and publishing timelines. This role suits a learning designer who is comfortable working at pace within a structured, quality-driven environment.

Skills and experience

• A minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience as a Learning Designer, Instructional Designer or similar, ideally within a higher education or comparable education setting
• Demonstrated experience designing and developing online learning content within a learning management system such as Canvas, Moodle or Blackboard
• Sound understanding of adult learning principles and how to apply these within a digital environment
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with academic staff
• Ability to manage multiple projects at pace while maintaining a consistent standard of design and quality

Multimedia capability (preferred)

Basic multimedia capability is preferred for this role. This may include:

• Graphic design
• Voiceover or narration
• Animation

Experience with one or more of the following tools would be highly regarded: Articulate 360, Adobe Creative Cloud, Camtasia or H5P.
