Job summary

Kingston City Council is hiring Swim Teachers to support Learn to Swim, School Swimming and holiday activities at Waves Leisure Centre and the new Mordi Aquatic Centre. The role offers casual shifts with weekday afternoons and weekends, training opportunities, and a focus on water safety and learner confidence.

You will deliver engaging lessons, assess progress, and contribute to a welcoming learning environment across multiple programs while maintaining regular availability for shifts during

Qualifications

• Current Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety Certificate (SISSS00132).
• Current Teacher of Infant and Preschool Aquatics Certificate (SISCAQU027), or willingness to obtain.
• Employee Working with Children's Check.
• Experience planning and delivering swimming lessons and carrying out basic admin duties.
• Experience teaching participants across a range of ages and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver Learn to Swim classes for a range of age groups and abilities.
• Assess students against the Swim and Survive curriculum.
• Monitor learner progress and adapt teaching approaches to support ongoing development.
• Provide outstanding customer service to students and their families.
• Share regular feedback with students and parents/carers to celebrate achievements and support progress.
• Contribute to a safe, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment for all participants.
