Job summary

City of Gold Coast is seeking a Leading Hand Precinct Operations to supervise a work team and oversee day-to-day maintenance of parks and open space areas within the City’s precincts in Queensland. You will manage budgets, supervise planting, pruning, and waste removal, and operate a range of grounds maintenance equipment to ensure high-quality outcomes for parklands and recreational spaces.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day supervision and direction for a work team
• Budget management and monitoring of specific precincts
• Planting, pruning, mulching, hedging, removing green waste, spraying herbicides/weed removal and operating equipment such as leaf blowers, chainsaws, mowers, hedgers, water blasters and pole saws
• Toilet and BBQ cleaning
• Servicing of wheelie bins
• Ride on mower operations
• Daily playground visual inspections and cleaning
• Demonstrate behaviours that contribute to a positive and successful team
• Follow established work practices and consistently deliver high quality work

About the team

Community Facilities Maintenance is a service provider for the Cities Asset managers providing all types of maintenance activities and minor installations when requested.

The Urban Precincts teams provide detailed City Cleaning, Horticultural, and minor maintenance services to Broadwater Parklands, Village Heart, HOTA, and Robina Green Heart to ensure that the public is ready to use the facilities.

About the role

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Leading Hand Precinct Operations to work from one of our Urban Precincts within the City Facilities Maintenance Branch.

Under direction of the Supervisor Urban Precincts Operations and Maintenance, you will work as part of a team responsible for maintaining and enhancing parks, landscaped and recreational spaces within the Cities open space regions and road network and other general duties listed below:

• Provide day-to-day supervision and direction for a work team
• Budget management and monitoring of specific precincts

We're looking for people who have:

• Certificate IV Horticulture / relevant qualification or equivalent knowledge and experience
• MR Class Drivers Licence or higher (Unrestricted) (Mandatory)
• General Construction Induction Card (White) (Mandatory)
• Commercial Operators Licence (ACDC) (Mandatory)
• Ability and willingness to work weekends, overtime and on-call as required
• Ability and willingness to work at other Precincts
