Job summary

City of Moreton Bay in Caboolture, Queensland, is seeking a Crew Leader to help maintain parks, gardens and open spaces. You will lead a Parks Labourer on a designated run, delivering maintenance across parks, streetscapes and open areas including the Caboolture CBD to keep spaces safe, functional and well-presented.

This hands-on role combines field work with basic admin, coordinating daily activities and allocating resources to ensure safe, efficient delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience in parks, horticulture or landscape maintenance.
• Experience leading on site and coordinating daily activities.
• Current MR truck licence, Construction Induction Card and ACDC certification.
• Desirable Certificate III in Horticulture, Parks & Gardens or landscape construction.

Job description

• Please note, progression in remuneration (up to Level 8) is available for this position upon meeting performance and training requirements outlined in a structured crew leader framework.
• 76 hour fortnight

Help maintain our community's parks, gardens and open green spaces. Working alongside a Parks Labourer on a designated run, you'll take a leading role in maintaining some of Council's parks and public spaces so they remain safe, functional and enjoyable for the community.

This position involves delivering a range of regular maintenance activities across parks, streetscapes and open spaces, including the Caboolture CBD area. Work is typically structured across a planned run, supporting the consistent upkeep of assigned areas and contributing to high quality presentation standards across well used community spaces.

This is a hands on role, with a mix of field based work and basic administrative responsibilities to support effective service delivery.

In this role, you'll coordinate and lead day to day activities, allocate resources and ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently and to the required standards, while supporting the Labourer working alongside you.

Some of the tasks include:

• mowing parks, nature strips and open green spaces
• mulching and weeding
• pruning and planting
• brush cutting and hedging
• spraying and removal of debris and litter
• driving a truck and trailer
• operating a range of plant and equipment
• coordinating daily work activities and supporting delivery on your run
• using Council systems to manage work orders, schedules and records

You'll also work with supervisors and other teams to identify improvements, manage resources and ensure maintenance programs are delivered effectively.

About you

You have experience in parks, horticulture or landscape maintenance, along with experience taking the lead on site and coordinating day to day activities.

You'll also bring:

• practical hands on experience in grounds or horticultural maintenance
• the ability to safely perform manual tasks in an outdoor environment
• experience operating plant and equipment such as mowers, brush cutters, blowers and similar machinery
• confidence and the ability to use and learn Council systems and relevant technology
• the ability to coordinate tasks and work effectively with others
• a strong focus on safety, quality and presentation standards

Requirements

• Current truck licence (minimum MR - Medium Rigid)
• Construction Induction Card (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement)
• ACDC certification (or willingness to obtain within 6 months)

A Certificate III in Horticulture, Parks and Gardens, Landscape Construction or similar is highly desirable and required to progress through the Crew Leader Framework.
