Job summary

Ausgrid is seeking an experienced Leading Hand to coordinate field-based network activities and support safe overhead construction, maintenance and restoration work. Based at the Dee Why Depot, you’ll lead field crews, subcontractors and ensure work is completed to safety, quality and schedule requirements.

In this permanent full-time role, you’ll work 7am to 3:30pm, with a fortnightly RDO and a base salary of $98,176 plus 16.5% super.

Qualifications

  • HRWL licences required (e.g., C2 crane, dogging).
  • HR or HC driver's licence is required.
  • Electrical Safety Rules accreditation and relevant training.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and complete written documentation.
  • Experience in erecting/removing poles and leading staff is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate field-based activities and crews to ensure safe, quality work.
  • Manage site inductions, permits, SWMS and other safety documentation.
  • Monitor plant and equipment, and report issues promptly.
  • Provide technical advice to employees and contractors.
  • Assist planning, scheduling and resource allocation with Field Supervisors.
  • Participate in emergency response and restoration when required.
  • Assist with site assessments, estimating and quotes for upcoming work.

We are seeking an experienced Leading Hand to coordinate the delivery of field-based network activities and support the safe execution of overhead construction, maintenance and restoration work.

This role is responsible for coordinating work on site to ensure activities are completed safely and to the required standards of quality, cost and time. Working closely with field crews, contractors and other workgroups, you will contribute to the reliability and sustainability of the electricity network while maintaining a strong focus on safety

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinate field-based activities and work crews to ensure work is undertaken safely and completed to approved standards of quality.
  • Coordinate onsite work activities and safety requirements, including site inductions, permits, SWMS, HACS and other site documentation.
  • Monitor and maintain the safe operation of plant, equipment and materials.
  • Investigate, rectify and report on overhead construction failures.
  • Provide technical advice to employees, contractors and other workgroups.
  • Assist Field Supervisors by providing input into planning, scheduling and resource allocation activities.
  • Participate in emergency response and restoration activities when required.
  • Assist with site assessments, estimating activities and quote preparation for upcoming work.
What you bring to the role

To be successful, you will have the following skills & experience:

  • High Risk Work Licences (HRWL) – multiple such as C2 crane and dogging.
  • HR or HC licence.
  • Electrical Safety Rules accreditation and relevant statutory training.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and complete written and system-based documentation.
  • Experience in erecting and removal of poles and in leading staff (preferred).
