Job summary

Ausgrid is seeking a Contract Manager to lead the day-to-day management of high-value contracts across major projects. You will ensure contractor performance, manage variations and claims, and work with procurement, legal and commercial teams to deliver infrastructure partnerships.

You will drive governance, risk, and compliance, building strong relationships with contractors and internal stakeholders while contributing to Ausgrid’s energy transition journey in a complex project environment.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years in contract administration or contract management.
  • Experience with large-scale infrastructure, construction, utilities or engineering projects.
  • Knowledge of AS4000, NEC, FIDIC or GC21 contracts.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.
  • Experience with contract management and document control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain project development and delivery oversight with internal stakeholders.
  • Administer contract performance, variations, and claims to ensure budget, schedule, and quality.
  • Draft and issue contract notices and correspondence for key subcontracts.
  • Manage monthly payment claims and change control processes.

At Ausgrid, we're investing in major network and renewable energy projects, including the Hunter Central Coast Renewable Energy Zone (HCC REZ), grid scale Battery Energy Storage (BESS) and Negotiated Connection Contracts (NCC) solutions. As a Contract Manager this role is ideal for someone who enjoys sitting at the intersection of commercial management and project delivery. You'll be ensuring contractors meet their obligations, managing variations and claims, supporting governance and compliance requirements, and helping large infrastructure projects run smoothly from a contractual perspective.

This is a permanent full-time position, located at Haymarket Sydney office and sits within our Transmission Development & Growth team. You’ll drive the day-to-day management of high-value contracts across major projects like the HCC REZ,BESS and NCC.

You’ll be involved in early contract development supporting procurement as well as early contractor involvement. You will be responsible for contract execution, governance and performance, working closely with contractors and suppliers to drive outcomes, manage risk and ensure compliance. From negotiating terms to providing assistance in resolving disputes, your work will directly influence how we deliver infrastructure that powers communities today and tomorrow.

This is a role for someone who thrives on complexity, builds strong relationships, is a confident communicator and brings a sharp eye for detail and strategy. You’ll champion continuous improvement and play a key part in Ausgrid’s energy transition journey.

As a minimum, your role will require you to:

  • Maintain project development and delivery oversight via continuous close liaison and agreement with all internal stakeholders.
  • Administer and oversee contract performance, variations, and claims to ensure budget, schedule, and quality adherence.
  • Draft, develop and issue contract notices and correspondence for key subcontracts.
  • Manage monthly payment claims and change control processes.
  • Lead dispute resolution and claims management, collaborating with legal and commercial teams.
  • Strategically engage with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to resolve complex issues and drive collaboration.
  • Contribute to governance reporting, risk management and compliance activities.
  • Develop confident and productive relationships with contractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Enforce compliance with legal, regulatory, and corporate standards, including NEC, FIDIC, GC21.

What you bring to the role

You’ll bring:

  • 10+ years' experience in contract administration or contract management.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in a related discipline.
  • Experience supporting large-scale infrastructure, construction, utilities or engineering projects.
  • Knowledge of major contract forms such as AS4000, NEC, FIDIC or GC21.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.
  • Experience with contract management and document control systems.
  • A sound understanding of commercial risk, compliance and performance management.

Highly regarded:

  • Experience with NEC4 contracts.
  • Professional certifications such as MCIPS, RICS or PMP.
  • Experience working within major regulated infrastructure environments.
