Job summary

Quickway Constructions is seeking a Leading Hand to join the Cassowary Drive Bridge Replacement project on the southern Gold Coast. This $18 million infrastructure initiative aims to deliver a flood-resilient bridge and improved transport connectivity for the growing community.

You will support civil construction activities, lead by example on site, coordinate crews, subcontractors and plant operations, and help ensure productivity, safety and quality while meeting milestones.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as Leading Hand in civil construction.
• Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Proactive approach to safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Assist with delivery of civil works including earthworks, drainage, pavements, concrete and related tasks.
• Supervise and coordinate day-to-day site activities.

• Monitor productivity, quality and compliance with project requirements.
• Promote and maintain a strong safety culture on site.
• Conduct pre-starts and ensure work aligns with approved procedures.

Working as a Leading Hand at Quickway is exciting

Quickway has been delivering major infrastructure projects across NSW for the past 19 years. We specialise in Roads & Bridges, Concrete Structures, Tunnels, Rail, Communications, Electrical, Water and Traffic Management. We have been working directly for Transport NSW for the past 8 years, and more recently in QLD with the City of Gold Coast Council.

About the Role

You will be part of the project team delivering the Cassowary Drive Bridge Replacement project, which has just kicked off, and will run through to completion in the second half of 2027. The project is a $18 million infrastructure project delivering a new flood-resilient bridge and improved transport connectivity for the growing southern Gold Coast community.

As a Leading Hand, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of various civil construction activities while leading by example on site. This is a hands‑on position suited to someone who is willing to get involved in the work while helping to coordinate crews, subcontractors and plant operations.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assisting with the delivery of civil construction works including earthworks, drainage, pavements, concrete and associated infrastructure works.
• Supervising and coordinating day‑to‑day site activities.
• Assisting with the management and coordination of subcontractors.
• Monitoring productivity, quality and compliance with project requirements.
• Promoting and maintaining a strong safety culture on site.
• Conducting pre‑starts and ensuring work is completed in accordance with approved procedures.
• Working closely with site management to ensure project milestones are achieved.

What You Will Bring

• Previous experience in a Leading Hand position within civil construction.
• Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• A proactive approach to safety and quality.
• Ability to coordinate multiple work fronts and subcontractors.
