Job summary

Parkview Constructions Pty is seeking an experienced Leading Hand – Defects to join our Client Services team in Sydney. This hands-on role focuses on investigating building defects and coordinating rectification across completed Sydney metro projects, working with subcontractors, consultants, clients and internal stakeholders to ensure quality outcomes.

You will supervise trades, read plans, and drive practical defect solutions while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Carpentry or related building trade.
• Construction Industry White Card held.
• Experience as Leading Hand or Supervisor on building sites.
• Strong knowledge of building methods and defect rectification.
• Experience coordinating and supervising subcontractors and trades.
• Ability to read and interpret plans and drawings.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Investigate building defects and coordinate rectification works.
• Conduct onsite investigations to identify defect causes and develop solutions.
• Coordinate and supervise subcontractors and trades for remedial works.
• Monitor rectification works for safety, efficiency, and quality.
• Coordinate trades, materials and resources to meet timeframes.
• Review subcontractor quotations and monitor rectification costs.
• Prepare reports and updates on defect investigations and rectifications.
• Read and interpret plans, drawings and technical documentation.
• Ensure compliance with building, quality and WHS requirements.
• Conduct site inductions and monitor subcontractor compliance.
• Collaborate with internal teams, consultants and clients to resolve defects.
• Identify recurring defects and contribute to lessons learned and improvements.

Job description

Parkview is seeking an experienced and motivated Leading Hand – Defects to join our Client Services team.

This is a hands-on role suited to a trade-qualified construction professional with strong site experience and a practical approach to problem-solving. You will be responsible for investigating and coordinating the rectification of building defects across completed Sydney metro-based projects, working closely with subcontractors, consultants, clients and internal stakeholders to deliver quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Investigate building defects and coordinate appropriate rectification works.
• Conduct onsite investigations to identify the cause of defects and develop practical solutions.
• Coordinate and supervise subcontractors and trades undertaking remedial works.
• Monitor rectification works to ensure they are completed safely, efficiently and to the required standard.
• Coordinate trades, materials and resources to meet agreed timeframes.
• Obtain and review subcontractor quotations and assist with monitoring rectification costs and cost recovery.
• Prepare reports, recommendations and regular updates on defect investigations and rectification works.
• Read and interpret plans, drawings and technical documentation.
• Ensure all works comply with relevant building, quality and WHS requirements.
• Conduct site inductions and monitor subcontractor compliance.
• Work closely with internal teams, consultants, clients and subcontractors to resolve defect issues.
• Identify recurring or systemic defects and contribute to lessons learned, training and process improvements.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A trade qualification in Carpentry or a related building trade.
• A current Construction Industry White Card.
• Previous experience as a Leading Hand, Supervisor or in a similar construction role.
• Strong knowledge of building construction methods, materials and defect rectification.
• Experience coordinating and supervising subcontractors and trades.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a practical approach to resolving construction issues.
• The ability to read and interpret plans, drawings and technical documentation.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• A hands‑on approach with a strong focus on quality workmanship.
