Job summary

Industec Filtration is seeking a hands-on Leading Hand/Advanced Trade Assistant for ongoing shutdown and maintenance projects on the Sunshine Coast, QLD. You will support the Site Supervisor, lead a crew, and ensure safe, efficient delivery of onsite works in dusty and confined-space environments.

You will bring at least 3 years’ construction/industrial experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to guideTrade Assistants and Labourers while adhering to SWMS and site procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years' experience within the Construction, Industrial and/or Mining sectors.
• Experience in industrial plant maintenance, shutdowns, construction or similar environments.
• Strong leadership experience is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Work hands-on alongside the team carrying out industrial filtration, service and maintenance.
• Assist the Site Supervisor with coordinating daily site activities and work allocation.
• Provide guidance and support to Trade Assistants and Labourers.
• Help ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required standard.
• Assist with pre-starts, toolbox talks and site safety requirements.
• Ensure team members follow relevant SWMS, procedures and site requirements.
• Assist with the coordination and preparation of tools, equipment and materials.
• Identify and communicate site hazards, issues or changes to the Supervisor.
• Maintain good communication and teamwork across the project crew.
• Assist the Supervisor with general site and project requirements as needed.

Leading Hand/Advanced Trade Assistant – Ongoing Shutdown & Maintenance Projects

As Leading Hand, you will assist the Site Supervisor with the safe and efficient delivery of onsite works while remaining actively involved in day-to-day project activities. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong industrial experience who can work effectively as part of the crew while providing leadership and support to the Site Supervisor. All work is carried out on industrial plant and equipment, with some activities undertaken in confined spaces. Work environments can be dusty and strict safety procedures must be followed at all times.

Key responsibilities

About you

Minimum of 3 years' experience within the Construction, Industrial and/or Mining sectors

Previous experience in industrial plant maintenance, shutdowns, construction or similar environments

Previous Leading Hand or team leadership experience is highly regarded

Good working knowledge of hand and power tools

Good mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills

Confident providing direction and support to other team members

Excellent teamwork and communication skills

Able to work closely with and effectively assist the Site Supervisor

Strong work ethic and positive attitude

Strong commitment to workplace health and safety

Reliable and able to work effectively in a team environment

Comfortable working in dusty environments and confined spaces

Willing to travel and work away from home

Willing to undertake shift work as required

Physically capable of undertaking hands-on industrial work

Willing to undertake a fit-for-duty medical and Drug & Alcohol testing as required

Essential licences: Construction Safety Induction Card (White Card), Enter and Work in Confined Spaces, Working Safely at Heights, Current Driver Licence

Highly regarded: Dogging and/or Rigging, Forklift, EWP, High Risk Work Licence, First Aid and CPR, Engineering or Mechanical Trade qualifications, Other relevant mining, construction or industrial tickets

Previous experience with industrial filtration, fabric filters, dust collection systems or filter installations would be advantageous; however, training can be provided to candidates with strong relevant industrial experience
