CampaignHire is seeking a Skilled Labourer with Welding skills / Trade Assistant for a client in North Queensland. The role covers general labouring, site prep, material handling, welding, cutting and basic fabrication, and assisting tradespeople on large-scale projects.

You will work safely at heights, follow procedures and risk controls, operate licensed equipment where required, and contribute as part of a fast-paced team on a 14/7 roster with overtime.

Qualifications

• White Card required for construction sites.
• Welding tickets or recognised welding qualifications (Second-Class Welder equivalent).
• Current and relevant high-risk work licences for site duties.
• Full Australian working rights.

Responsibilities

• Perform general labouring duties including site preparation and material handling.
• Carry out welding, cutting and basic fabrication tasks per project requirements and safety rules.
• Assist tradespeople and site teams with installation, maintenance and construction.
• Work safely at heights above 11 metres following approved procedures.
• Operate relevant equipment and machinery where licensed and authorised.
• Assist with loading, unloading and positioning materials, tools and equipment.
• Inspect tools and report faults or damages to supervisors.
• Follow SWMS, risk assessments, permit requirements and safety procedures.
• Maintain tidy work areas and ensure materials and equipment are stored safely.
• Collaborate with supervisors and site personnel to meet project deadlines.

Skilled Labourer with Welding skills / Trade Assistant

Our client is a rapidly expanding multidisciplined contractor with a strong reputation in Northern Australia. They offer diverse services in major industrial construction, capital works, and maintenance across multiple sectors.

Our client's North Queensland division consists of branches in Cairns, Townsville, and Mt Isa, with the capability to execute a wide range of projects. The team is supported by extensive national resources, allowing them to meet the diverse needs of their clients effectively.

The Role

The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic, practical hands-on skills and the ability to work effectively as a Trade Assistant or Second-Class Welder within a fast-paced construction or industrial environment. Experience working on large-scale projects and a strong commitment to workplace health and safety are highly desirable.

Key responsibilities:

• Perform general labouring duties, including site preparation, material handling, cleaning and maintaining a safe work environment.
• Carry out welding, cutting and basic fabrication tasks in accordance with project requirements and relevant safety procedures.
• Assist tradespeople and site teams with installation, maintenance and construction activities.
• Work safely at heights above 11 metres, following approved procedures and fall-prevention requirements.
• Operate relevant equipment and machinery where appropriately licensed and authorised.
• Assist with loading, unloading and positioning materials, tools and equipment.
• Inspect tools and equipment before use and report faults, hazards or damage to supervisors.
• Follow SWMS, risk assessments, permit requirements and all workplace health and safety procedures.
• Maintain tidy work areas and ensure materials and equipment are stored safely.
• Work collaboratively with supervisors, tradespeople and other site personnel to meet project deadlines.
• Comply with PPE requirements and maintain a strong safety-first approach at all times.
• Undertake additional site duties as required to support project delivery.

On Offer

Attractive hourly rate of $36 - $40 per hour + super + penalties.

Stable, full-time permanent position working an attractive 14/7 roster.

Opportunities for overtime and away work.

Required Qualifications:

• Current Australian Driver Licence.
• White Card (Construction Industry General Safety Induction).
• Relevant welding tickets or recognised welding qualifications (Second-Class Welder equivalent).
• Current and relevant high-risk work licences for the required site duties.
• Current Working at Heights certification and demonstrated experience working at heights above 11 metres.
• Previous experience in construction, industrial or maintenance environments as a labourer or Trade Assistant.
• Practical experience with welding, fabrication and general labouring tasks.
• Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements, including fall protection.
• Ability to safely handle materials, tools and equipment.
• Physically fit and capable of performing demanding manual work.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
• Reliable, hardworking and able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Full Australian working rights.
• Experience on large-scale construction, mining or industrial projects.
• Additional relevant high-risk tickets, such as WP Class EWP, dogging, rigging or forklift, depending on project requirements.
• Experience working within permit-controlled environments and following site-specific safety procedures.
