Gilmour Space seeks a Lead System Engineer to drive modelling of aerodynamics, thermal and mechanical systems for rocket programmes in Australia. You will lead a skilled engineering team, shape system modelling standards, and collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to deliver complex space systems.

You have 5+ years in engineering modelling, a relevant bachelor's degree, and hands-on experience with FEA/CFD, CAD, Python, and systems engineering practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace / Aeronautical Engineering or a relevant qualification.
• 5+ years experience in engineering modelling.
• Ability to model a complex system with fundamental principles and mission constraints.
• Experience with mechanical CAD Software.
• Experience with FEA and CFD.
• Experience programming in Python.
• Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies with minimal guidance.
• Proven ability to operate in dynamic environments.
• Ability to work in a team and support others.
• Maintains or is eligible for CPENG and RPEQ.
• Ability to obtain NV1 Security Clearance.

Responsabilités

• Provide high-level software architecture and modelling leadership for aerodynamics, thermal and mechanical analyses.
• Lead a team of engineers developing complex models and oversee technical direction.
• Own System Modeller processes, tools and technologies.
• Act as Technical Authority on System Modelling matters.
• Conduct System Modelling from low to high fidelity across product life cycles.
• Coordinate with Launch Vehicle and Launch Site teams and external suppliers as needed.
• Mentor and support team members; prioritize work allocation.
• Collaborate with other departments to align on objectives.
• Contribute to HR planning to grow the team.
• Other duties as required by Management.
