Job summary

Gilmour Space Technologies, based in Queensland, is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to drive hardware delivery for rocket programs from concept through integration and verification.

You will mentor engineers, lead cross-disciplinary teams, and ensure safety, quality, and robust design while balancing schedule, cost, and performance requirements in a dynamic space program environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 6+ years in professional mechanical engineering.
• Proven ability to lead complex engineering programs.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management.
• Eligibility to obtain an Australian Defence security clearance desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the successful delivery of subsystems, work packages, or major hardware developments.
• Coordinate activities across multidisciplinary teams to achieve objectives.
• Provide engineering leadership and mentor engineers.
• Represent Mechanical Engineering in reviews and program decision-making.
• Develop verification strategies and ensure evidence supports technical decisions.
