Job summary

Gilmour Space Technologies is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to guide the modelling of aerodynamics, thermal and mechanical systems for advanced rocket platforms. You will lead a small engineering team, set technical directions, and work with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure robust system models across the product life cycle.

The role requires a strong background in physics-based modelling, CAD/FEA/CFD tools, and Python programming, with eligibility for CPENG/RPEQ and ability to obtain NV1

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace / Aeronautical Engineering or a relevant qualification.
• 5+ years experience in engineering modelling.
• Ability to model a complex system using fundamental mechanical/aerothermal principles with suitable tools.
• Experience with mechanical CAD Software.
• Experience with FEA and CFD.
• Experience programming in Python.
• Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies with minimal guidance.
• Proven ability to operate in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
• Ability to work in a team and support others.
• Eligible for CPENG and RPEQ; ability to obtain NV1 Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of engineers developing complex aerodynamics, thermal, and mechanical models.
• Own the System Modeller processes, tools and technologies.
• Act as Technical Authority on System Modelling matters when required.
• Conduct and support System Modelling from low to high fidelity across product life cycle.
• Coordinate with Launch Vehicle and Launch Site teams and external partners.
• Mentor and provide direction to the team; balance workload across programs.
• Engage HR to grow and manage the team as needed.
