Job summary

Gilmour Space Technologies in Yatala, Queensland, is seeking a Lead Material Preparation Technician to direct the Material Preparation team in a high-volume aerospace environment. The role focuses on leading additive manufacturing and waterjet cutting workflows, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time production.

The candidate should have at least 2 years in a similar leadership role, with hands-on experience in manufacturing processes, engineering drawings, and material management.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience in a leadership role within high-volume manufacturing or aerospace environments.
• Basic knowledge of Additive Manufacturing principles and processes.
• Basic knowledge of Waterjet operation, heat treatment, and DXF files.
• Experience in inventory control and material management.
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings, specs, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with hand tools, mechanical equipment and precision measurement.
• NV1 Security Clearance eligibility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the Material Preparation team with day-to-day direction and safety compliance.
• Oversee Additive Manufacturing and Waterjet Cutting workcentres and coordinate with Design/Manufacturing Engineering and Production Planning.
• Monitor workload planning, resources, and materials to keep department efficient.
• Communicate part status, risks, and issues to leadership and stakeholders.
• Assist in resolving technical and production issues with engineers to develop solutions.
• Ensure work complies with engineering drawings, CAD/build files, and instructions.
• Oversee machine setup, operation, post-processing, and material tracking.
