Job summary

Gilmour Space Technologies, based between Brisbane and the Gold Coast with operations in Bowen, North Queensland, seeks a Lead Material Preparation Technician. You will lead a high‑performance team during critical rocket component fabrication, integrating additive manufacturing and waterjet processes.

You will ensure safety, quality, and on‑time production while driving process improvements. Applicants must be an Australian Citizen or permanent resident, with the potential NV1 security clearance

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' leadership experience in high-volume manufacturing or aerospace.
• Practical understanding of Additive Manufacturing.
• Experience with Waterjet, heat treatment, and DXF file handling.
• Experience in inventory control and material management.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, specifications and processes.
• Proficient with hand tools and precision measurement equipment.
• NV1 Security Clearance eligibility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the Material Preparation team, providing day-to-day direction and ensuring safe, quality work.
• Oversee Additive Manufacturing and Waterjet Cutting workcentres, aligning with Design Engineering and Production Planning.
• Monitor workload, resources, and materials to keep the department efficient and on schedule.
• Track production progress and communicate status, risks, and issues to leadership.
• Help resolve technical and production issues with engineers to improve manufacturing solutions.
• Ensure work complies with drawings, CAD models, build files and DXF data.
• Manage machine setup, operation, post-processing, and material movement through workflows.
• Maintain accurate quality control, material traceability and inventory records.
