Job summary

Hop To It Collective Pty Ltd in Woolloongabba is seeking a hands-on Sous Chef to be second-in-command in the kitchen at Electric Avenue & Mrs J Rabbits. You’ll work with the Head Chef to keep every service consistent, run the pass or a key section, and prep ahead of service.

This role offers either full-time or part-time hours and a pathway to Head Chef for motivated candidates. Local candidates or those willing to travel are welcome; no agency applications.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years' post-apprenticeship experience in a busy kitchen.
• Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery.
• Food Safety Supervisor certification or willing to obtain.
• Strong food-cost awareness and section leadership.
• Ability to mentor apprentices and manage pass calmly.

Responsibilities

• Lead service on the pass or a section.
• Manage prep and production schedules.
• Deputise for Head Chef including rostering and ordering.
• Track food cost and flag variances.
• Assist with stock deliveries and rotation.
• Mentor junior chefs and provide feedback.
