Urban Grounds Café in Toowoomba is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join our kitchen leadership team on a permanent full-time basis. You will work closely with the Head Chef to support daily kitchen operations, maintain high food quality, and lead kitchen staff in a fast-paced hospitality setting.

You will play a key role in ensuring efficient service, safe food handling, and fostering a positive, professional team culture while upholding our high standards of cleanliness and organization.

Formación

• Experience in a high-volume commercial kitchen.
• Proven leadership ability in supervising and guiding kitchen staff.
• Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, ingredients, kitchen equipment, and food preparation methods.
• Ability to follow and enforce recipes and operational standards.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a leadership team.
• Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends.

Responsabilidades

• Assist the Head Chef in ensuring efficient production of food across all kitchen sections.
• Supervise, lead, and support chefs, cooks, apprentices and junior staff.
• Allocate tasks to ensure smooth workflow and timely service.
• Monitor meal production times and quality to maintain standards.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and WHS requirements.
• Contribute ideas and collaborate on menu planning and development.
• Maintain cleanliness, organisation and safety in the kitchen.
• Place and manage stock orders in line with operations.
• Oversee stock deliveries and correct storage and stock control procedures.
• Monitor kitchen equipment and report maintenance issues.
• Oversee cleaning schedules and kitchen maintenance.
• Promote professionalism and a positive team culture.
