Job summary

Tenterfield Shire Council is seeking a full-time Leading Hand (Roads – Sealed) to join our Infrastructure team in Tenterfield, NSW. You will supervise sealed road maintenance and rehabilitation, mentor staff and contractors, and ensure safe, efficient delivery of works in a regional setting.

Ideal candidates bring supervisory civil construction experience, WHS expertise, and current Traffic Controller qualifications, along with an NSW HR licence.

Qualifications

• Must have supervisory experience in civil construction or road maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of WHS practices and safe systems of work.
• Current Traffic Controller and Traffic Management qualifications.
• NSW Class HR Driver’s Licence.
• Proven ability to operate and oversee civil plant and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Supervising sealed roads maintenance and rehabilitation activities.
• Leading and mentoring crew members and contractors.
• Implementing and monitoring safe work practices, including toolbox talks, risk assessments and SWMS.
• Overseeing traffic control setups and compliance with Traffic Control Plans.
• Allocating daily tasks in line with works programs and reporting progress.
• Operating and overseeing plant including tipper trucks, patchmobile, loaders, and associated equipment.
• Maintaining quality standards for durability and longevity of repairs.
• Ensuring accurate completion of documentation and job costing.
