Job summary

Evoenergy is recruiting a Principal Protection Engineer to lead the Protection engineering team in Canberra. You will develop and advance protection standards, oversee maintenance strategies, and ensure safety and reliability for the Evoenergy network, including embedded generation and storage.

You will manage staff, provide specialist knowledge, conduct protection studies, and liaise with other departments to meet standards and customer requirements.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of electrical network protection systems and protection studies.
• Experience with IEC 61850 standards and network protection applications.
• Ability to lead a protection engineering team and manage assets.
• Familiarity with National Electricity Rules and AEMO guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Protection engineering team.
• Oversee protection and zone metering assets against strategy.
• Develop maintenance strategies using RCM methodology and business cases.
• Define annual protection program and deliver with internal teams and contractors.
• Review protection studies to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance.
• Collaborate across departments to ensure standards and user needs are met.
