Job summary

Brunel is recruiting a senior Project Engineer Lead – Civil in Melbourne with multi-site travel across Australia to oversee civil/structural execution for a renewable energy portfolio including solar, BESS, and substations. You will lead a team of site engineers, set QA standards, and act as the main link between sites, subcontractors, clients and design office.

The role requires 10+ years in civil/structural roles, 4+ years in supervision, and strong knowledge of AS/NZS and NCC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's advantageous).
• 10+ years' civil/structural experience in infrastructure/energy.
• 4+ years in lead or supervisory capacity managing site engineers or construction-phase engineering.
• Strong working knowledge of Australian Standards (AS/NZS) and the National Construction Code.
• Experience with foundations/piling, earthworks, drainage, access roads, cable trenches and substation civil works.
• Demonstrated QA/QC leadership and contractor oversight during construction.

Responsibilities

• Develop portfolio-wide civil/structural execution strategies, standards and QA/QC procedures.
• Provide input on constructability, sequencing and temporary works; drive lessons-learned and continuous improvement.
• Act as SME in tender processes and oversee civil/structural works from pre-construction through to commissioning.
• Review and approve ITPs, NCRs, quality reports and as-built documentation.
• Lead, mentor and manage site-based Project Engineers, including performance and training.
• Serve as senior client/stakeholder point of contact for civil/structural matters.
• Manage the portfolio view of engineering deliverables, milestones and risk.

Our client, a leading renewable energy developer/EPC delivering a national portfolio of utility-scale solar, battery storage (BESS) and substation projects, is seeking an experienced Project Engineer Lead – Civil to join their Engineering team.

About the role

This senior role oversees civil/structural engineering execution across a multi-project renewable energy portfolio.
