Job summary

ConnectYou is seeking a Senior Project Engineer – Electrical to join our Melbourne-based EPC team, delivering utility-scale renewable energy projects across Australia. This full-time permanent role operates on a roster-based FIFO arrangement, with opportunities to move between projects as they progress through construction, commissioning and energisation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• Strong experience leading electrical delivery on major renewable energy projects.
• Experience coordinating with construction, design, and procurement teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day electrical engineering delivery across site-based renewable energy projects.
• Coordinate closely with construction teams, subcontractors, designers, OEMs and clients.
• Review drawings, specifications, ITPs, QA documentation, RFIs, test plans, cable schedules and as-built documentation.
• Manage technical queries, design changes and engineering interfaces to execute on site and throughout construction.
• Support procurement, subcontractor management, programme planning and project forecasting.
• Monitor works against project specifications, Australian Standards and network requirements.
• Drive QA/QC activities including inspections, ITPs, NCRs and completion documentation.
• Support electrical testing, commissioning, FAT/SAT, energisation and project handover.
• Identify engineering and construction risks and work with the wider project team to resolve issues.
• Provide technical guidance and support to Project Engineers and site personnel.
• Assist with variations, value engineering and commercial assessments where required.
• Maintain a strong focus on HSE, quality, programme and successful project delivery.

Job description

We’re recruiting for a Senior Project Engineer – Electrical to join a Melbourne based EPC contractor, delivering utility-scale renewable energy projects across Australia. This is a full-time permanent, roster-based FIFO position, offering the opportunity to join the business long term and move across its pipeline of projects as they progress through construction, commissioning and energisation.

Working as a senior member of the site delivery team, you will take ownership of electrical engineering activities on major renewable energy projects, working closely with Construction Managers, Project Managers, subcontractors, designers, OEMs, utilities and clients to ensure works are delivered safely, on programme and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day electrical engineering delivery across site-based renewable energy projects.
• Manage electrical packages across BESS, Solar, HV substations, eBoP and associated infrastructure.
• Coordinate closely with construction teams, subcontractors, designers, OEMs and clients.
• Review drawings, specifications, ITPs, QA documentation, RFIs, test plans, cable schedules and as-built documentation.
• Manage technical queries, design changes and engineering interfaces to execute on site and throughout construction.

Required Experience

• Strong experience as a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer delivering electrical works on major infrastructure, power or utility-scale renewable energy projects.
• Demonstrated experience across BESS, HV substations, solar and/or electrical balance of plant.
• Strong understanding of high-voltage electrical infrastructure and construction delivery.
• Experience with HV substations, protection and control, secondary systems, earthing and associated electrical infrastructure.
• Strong experience with QA/QC, ITPs, RFIs, design coordination and engineering change management.
• Exposure to commissioning, energisation and FAT/SAT activities.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to work effectively across construction, engineering and client teams.
• Comfortable working a FIFO roster across project sites nationally.
