Job summary

PHE Engineering is building a grid connections and power systems practice in Brisbane. We seek a Principal Power Systems Engineer to act as technical lead, sign off work, and build the team as demand grows.

You will report to the General Manager Engineering and own connection studies from R0 to R2, coordinating with AEMO and NSPs. The role focuses on modelling, standards, and client technical discussions, with no sales targets.

Qualifications

• Degree in electrical or power systems engineering with 10+ years in power systems.
• Experience in consultancy or developer-side work on NEM generator and BESS connections.
• Hands-on modelling with PSS/E and PSCAD/EMT; PowerFactory valued.

Responsibilities

• Own connection studies and R0 packages with clear go/no-go basis.
• Lead PSS/E (RMS) and PSCAD (EMT) modelling; QA and governance.
• Engage with AEMO, NSPs, and OEMs to resolve model issues.
• Drive study workflows, QA, and OEM model governance.
• Hire and mentor engineers as pipeline grows.
• Provide technical authority through R1 design and R2 commissioning.
