Job summary

PHE Engineering is setting up a grid connections and power systems practice in Brisbane, and we're looking for a Principal Power Systems Engineer to be its technical lead. You'll model, set the standards, sign off the work and grow the team under the General Manager Engineering.

You'll own PSS/E and PSCAD modelling, GPS negotiations, AEMO/NSP engagements, and mentoring as the pipeline expands, working on BESS, solar, wind and mining electrification across a portfolio of projects.

Qualifications

• Degree in electrical or power systems engineering.
• 10+ years in power systems, consultancy or developer-side work on NEM generator and BESS connections.
• Hands-on modelling with PSS/E and PSCAD/EMT (PowerFactory valued).
• GPS negotiation and R0-R2 submissions with AEMO and NSPs.
• Experience with inverter tuning and OEM model governance.

Responsibilities

• Connect studies and R0 packages with a go/no-go technical basis.
• Lead modelling using PSS/E, PSCAD/EMT, and PowerFactory."
• Engage with AEMO, NSPs and OEMs to resolve model and performance issues.
• Mentor engineers as the pipeline grows.
• Own technical authority through R1 design and R2 commissioning.
