Qantas is seeking a Principal Planning Analyst - Components for an 18-month secondment located in the Qantas Supply Chain. The role leads a small team to manage parts under contract, ensure on-time performance targets and monitor supplier performance.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in demand planning, inventory optimisation, and strong stakeholder management. The role blends hands-on planning with supplier engagement, requiring leadership and continuous improvement mindset.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified, with experience in supply chain planning, purchasing or inventory management.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in demand planning and inventory optimisation.
• Strong understanding of planning, purchasing, and inventory control principles.
• Confident using a variety of computer systems, particularly inventory planning tools, Microsoft Excel, and Access.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to build and maintain relationships at senior levels, with a strong stakeholder management approach.
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including experience managing and leading teams.
• Strong analytical and financial acumen, with effective problem‑solving skills.
• A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead a small team in the management of parts under contract that support the Qantas mainline fleet, ensuring contracted part availability targets are met to support On-Time Performance (OTP).
• Monitor supplier performance by working with stakeholders to resolve shortages and improve reliability.
• Contribute to improvement initiatives such as system upgrades and fleet modification programs.
• Mix of hands‑on supply chain operations and contracted supplier engagement requiring strong analytical skills and collaboration across Qantas Engineering and external suppliers.
