Job summary

Bluefin Resources Pty Limited seeks a seasoned Head of Operational Risk to provide independent 2nd line oversight across non-financial and operational risks within wealth and value chain portfolios. The role partners with senior leaders to challenge risk management effectiveness and influence governance forums.

You will assess risk appetite, controls, and end-to-end processes, delivering clear, practical guidance and leading the risk capability with strong leadership and judgement.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in financial services with strong operational/non-financial risk expertise.
• Demonstrated experience across wealth, retail banking or similarly complex financial services environments.
• Strong understanding of end-to-end processes, controls, customer journeys and interconnected risks.
• Proven ability to provide independent second-line challenge and influence senior stakeholders.
• Strong commercial judgement and the ability to translate complex risk matters into clear, practical advice.
• Excellent executive communication, influencing and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide independent 2nd line oversight, challenge and advice across non-financial and operational risks.
• Assess risk management effectiveness, including risk assessments, controls, framework adherence and risk appetite.
• Identify material and emerging risks across end-to-end value chains, processes, systems and data.
• Challenge root-cause analysis and remediation plans, monitoring delivery and sustainable risk outcomes.
• Provide clear risk insight and advice to senior leaders and governance forums.
• Lead and develop risk capability while role-modelling strong risk culture, judgement and constructive challenge.
