Job summary

Bluefin Resources Pty is seeking a Head of Operational Risk for Retail Banking to lead second-line oversight of operational and non-financial risk across a defined portfolio in Sydney. The role provides independent challenge on risk assessments, controls, risk appetite and framework effectiveness.

You will identify material risks, drive remediation oversight, and deliver commercially grounded risk guidance to senior leaders and governance forums.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in financial services with a strong track record in operational and non-financial risk.
• Proven Line 2 risk management experience in the retail banking/financial services space.
• Strong operational and non-financial risk expertise across end-to-end value chains.
• Ability to constructively challenge Line 1 and influence senior stakeholders.
• Translate complex risk issues into clear, practical advice for governance forums.
• Executive-level communication skills and experience in senior governance forums.

• Lead second-line oversight of operational and non-financial risk across a designated portfolio.
• Provide independent challenge on risk assessments, controls, risk appetite and framework effectiveness.
• Identify material risks, control weaknesses and emerging themes across end-to-end value chains.
• Challenge remediation plans and monitor sustainable risk improvement.
• Provide clear, commercially grounded risk advice to senior leaders and governance forums.
• Lead and develop risk capability while promoting strong risk culture and sound judgement.
