Benz star motors, Melbourne's trusted European workshop, seeks an experienced mechanic with leadership flair to run the busy workshop from open to close. You will allocate tasks, mentor juniors, and ensure high-quality diagnostics while keeping customers informed and satisfied.

Qualifications

• Qualified mechanic with minimum 7 years experience.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Experience leading a team or readiness to take that step.
• Calm, organised and able to make decisions under pressure.
• Clear communicator who can explain technical issues simply.
• Current driver's licence.
• 7:30-5:00 Monday to Friday, no weekends.
• Senior role with real responsibility and trust to run the floor.
• Supportive, friendly/family run team.

Responsibilities

• Managing the workshop: allocate jobs, set priorities and keep work on schedule while also working on vehicles
• Be a role model for the team, bringing Benz Star Motors' values to every job
• Share responsibility for opening and closing, plan vehicle layout so the team always has room to work efficiently
• Assist with invoicing and quoting systems
• Be the technical lead: answer the team's questions, help with diagnosis and check work quality
• Confident leading a team and simultaneously working on vehicles
• Support and mentor junior mechanics and apprentices
• Liaise with customers on quotes and repairs / order parts
• Be a friendly-point of contact for customers, keeping them informed and happy with our work
• Build strong customer relationships by answering questions and turning any issues into great outcomes
