Responsibilities

• Oversee daily workshop operation from vehicle intake to completion and collection.
• Allocate work to technicians and apprentices and monitor progress.
• Lead, support and develop workshop staff to maintain high standards of workmanship.
• Coordinate with customers, provide repair updates and manage expectations.
• Prepare quotes and obtain customer approvals.
• Order parts and liaise with suppliers.
• Ensure accurate invoicing and revenue tracking.
• Maintain a clean, safe and efficient workshop.

Our client is an established and growing European automotive workshop specialising in the service, diagnostics, and repair of European vehicles, including BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche, Land Rover, and other prestige European makes.

They are seeking an experienced and motivated Workshop Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of their busy workshop.

This is a hands‑on management position suited to someone with strong automotive knowledge who can lead a team, manage workshop workflow, deal confidently with customers, and take ownership of ensuring jobs are completed properly and on time.

About the Role

As Workshop Manager, you will oversee the daily operation of the workshop from vehicle arrival through to completion and collection.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing the daily workshop schedule and workflow.
• Allocating work to technicians and apprentices.
• Managing and supporting workshop staff.
• Monitoring jobs throughout the day and keeping work progressing.
• Liaising with customers and providing repair updates.
• Preparing quotes and obtaining customer approvals.
• Reviewing technician findings and recommended repairs.
• Ordering parts and dealing with suppliers.
• Ensuring jobs are accurately invoiced and all work performed is accounted for.
• Managing vehicle completion times and customer expectations.
• Carrying out quality‑control checks and organising road tests.
• Assisting technicians with technical and diagnostic issues when required.
• Monitoring workshop productivity and efficiency.
• Maintaining high standards of workmanship and reducing comebacks.
• Managing customer concerns and resolving issues professionally.
• Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe workshop.
• Working closely with the business owner to improve workshop performance.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

• Has strong automotive mechanical knowledge.
• Has experience as a Workshop Manager, Workshop Foreman, Service Manager, or Senior Automotive Technician.
• Can confidently manage technicians and apprentices.
• Is organised and able to manage multiple jobs simultaneously.
• Has strong customer service and communication skills.
• Understands quoting, labour times, parts, and invoicing.
• Can identify problems early and find effective solutions.
• Takes pride in workmanship and customer satisfaction.
• Is comfortable taking responsibility and making day‑to‑day decisions.
• Has a strong work ethic and leads by example.
• Holds a current Australian driver's licence.
• European vehicle experience is highly regarded, particularly experience with BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche, and Land Rover.
