Job summary

Polaris Marine Group is seeking a hands-on Marine Mechanic to lead our PM Fleet Maintenance team in Rozelle, Sydney. This role involves servicing vessels, barges and marine plant, both on-water and in the waterfront workshop, with opportunities to mentor apprentices.

You’ll diagnose faults, perform preventive and breakdown maintenance, and ensure assets are safe and ready for work across national sites, including remote projects and occasional Antarctica trips.

Qualifications

• Trade-qualified marine mechanic with hands-on diesel, plant or heavy equipment experience.
• Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding abilities with manuals/schematics.
• Leadership experience or potential to lead a team and mentor apprentices.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations of PM Fleet Maintenance.
• Perform planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance on vessels and equipment.
• Diagnose faults in engines, hydraulics, electrical systems and drive trains.
• Oversee vessel docking, refits and hull/structural repairs.
• Ensure safety compliance and quality checks before returning assets to service.
