Job summary

Design & Build Recruitment is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join an established mechanical contractor in Sydney. You will own HVAC design across commercial refurbishments and upgrades, with a hands-on role including site visits to verify conditions and ensure practical, buildable outcomes.

The role requires 5+ years in mechanical building services/HVAC design, strong technical knowledge, and NER registration to sign off designs.

Qualifications

5+ years in mechanical building services/HVAC design.
NER registration with the ability to sign off mechanical designs.
Confident leading mechanical design projects and taking ownership of technical outcomes.
Willingness to undertake site visits and engage with project teams to understand site conditions.

Responsibilities

Lead and deliver mechanical HVAC designs across commercial, retail, education, laboratory and refurbishment projects.
Develop detailed mechanical documentation, drawings, specifications and calculations.
Undertake regular site visits to assess existing conditions and understand project requirements.
Identify design, coordination and buildability issues early and develop practical solutions.
Work closely with project managers, clients, contractors and other consultants to ensure designs are delivered effectively.
