Job summary

Penske Australia & New Zealand in Brisbane’s Wacol workshop is seeking a hands-on Leading Hand - Genset Upfit to mentor technicians and drive generator upfit projects. You’ll stay on the tools while coordinating daily activities, ensuring safety, quality and on-time delivery.

Reporting to the Production Centre Manager, you’ll lead a skilled team, troubleshoot complex builds, and implement continuous improvement within a modern facility.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Diesel Mechanics, Heavy Vehicle Mechanics, Electrical, Plant Mechanics or a related field.
• Previous leadership, supervisory or Leading Hand experience within a workshop or manufacturing environment.
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude and ability to work hands-on.
• Experience with generators, power systems, heavy equipment or industrial machinery.
• Good understanding of production, manufacturing and quality systems.
• Strong problem-solving, communication and planning skills.

Responsibilities

• Leading a team of technicians with varying levels of experience.
• Coordinating and allocating daily upfit activities across the workshop.
• Providing technical guidance and support to team members.
• Working hands-on to complete generator upfit projects.
• Assisting with production scheduling and workload planning.
• Ensuring projects are delivered to customer specifications.
• Communicating job progress, delays and new work requirements.
• Building strong stakeholder relationships and driving safety, quality and continuous improvement.
