Job summary

Jobs Riverina Murray is seeking a senior specialist to lead Council's floodplain risk management and stormwater initiatives in NSW. You will provide expert technical guidance, interpret flood models and collaborate with agencies and the community to support planning and infrastructure projects.

The role requires extensive experience in floodplain and stormwater management, strong analytical and communication skills, and a current drivers license.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering, Hydrology, Hydraulics or related discipline.
• Extensive experience in floodplain and stormwater management, including interpretation of flood models and engineering assessments.
• Ability to provide clear, practical, evidence-based technical advice to diverse stakeholders.
• Strong knowledge of NSW legislation, guidelines, standards and floodplain/water management practices.
• Experience managing or overseeing consultants and technical investigations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation of the Council's floodplain risk management framework and stormwater management initiatives.
• Provide specialist technical advice on flooding, stormwater and floodplain management to support infrastructure projects, asset management and land use planning.
• Review and interpret flood modelling, investigations and engineering assessments to inform planning and development decisions.
• Collaborate with government agencies, industry professionals and community stakeholders.
• Maintain and improve flood and stormwater data for evidence-based decision-making.
• Lead community engagement to improve flood awareness and preparedness.
• Coordinate grant applications, investigations and projects related to floodplain and stormwater risk management.
• Support flood event responses and post-event assessments to inform future planning.
• Provide specialist technical advice to the Floodplain Risk Management Advisory Committee.
