Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior/Associate Electrical Engineer for our Power & Energy Group in Australia. Lead complex HV design across substations and data centre projects, guiding multi-disciplinary teams and driving technical excellence.

You will mentor engineers, contribute to proposals, and ensure SID compliance while collaborating with civil, structural, and control-system specialists to deliver future-ready energy networks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 7–15+ years’ post-graduate experience in HV/EHV electrical engineering.
• RPEQ/RPEV registration or eligibility.
• Chartered Associate status.
• Engineering consultancy experience.
• Excellent communication and proposal-writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead HV design for transmission & distribution substations and HV infrastructure.
• Develop detailed project and equipment specifications.
• Apply power system protection, SCADA, transmission lines, cables, and earthing design knowledge.
• Support high-voltage scope for Owner’s Engineer and Technical Due Diligence.
• Review and verify designs and reports by peers.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote technical excellence.
• Drive Safety-in-Design (SID) and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate across civil, structural, geotechnical, drafting, and control systems.
• Conduct short-term site visits as needed.
• Contribute to proposals and business development.
