Job summary

UGL is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer, Primary Systems to join our North Sydney team. You will lead primary design for HV substations, transmission assets, BESS, solar and wind projects, directing engineers and drafting staff to deliver practical, constructible solutions.

You will coordinate interfaces with project teams, verify outputs for safety, quality and schedule, and mentor junior engineers while engaging with major utility clients.

Qualifications

• Four-year electrical engineering degree required.
• Eight+ years in primary design of HV plants or substations.
• Experience leading primary substation design packages for utility/renewable projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead design packages and coordinate deliverables across tender and project phases.
• Develop and review substation configurations, plant layouts, busbar systems, clearances and equipment specs.
• Oversee HV cable, earthing, lightning protection, insulation coordination and EMF design.
• Provide technical direction to engineers and drafters; mentor team members.
• Support customer visits, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.
