Legrand ANZ is seeking a Lead Electronic Design Engineer based in Prestons, NSW. You will provide technical leadership across analogue/digital circuit design, PCB layouts in Altium, and end-to-end product development from concept to production.

Working with manufacturing, quality, sourcing and international stakeholders, you will mentor engineers, drive design rigor, and ensure compliance with Australian/New Zealand standards while delivering high-quality, manufacturable solutions.

Formación

• Tertiary qualifications in electrical engineering or related discipline.
• Experience in electronic product design and development in a manufacturing or product development environment.
• Knowledge of embedded firmware development.

Responsabilidades

• Lead electronic design activities across new product development and product improvement projects.
• Conduct feasibility assessments and support business case development for new product concepts.
• Design analogue and digital electronic circuits and PCB layouts using Altium.
• Develop, test and validate prototypes and production-ready solutions.
• Prepare technical documentation including BOMs, specifications, test reports and assembly instructions.
• Provide technical leadership to engineers within the Electronics Design team.
• Support project teams with technical expertise, planning and execution.
• Troubleshoot design and production issues through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with local and offshore suppliers, manufacturers and certification bodies.
• Ensure products comply with Australian and New Zealand standards and regulatory requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement to enhance performance, quality and manufacturability.

About the Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Lead Electronic Design Engineer to join our R&D team based in Prestons, NSW.

Reporting to the Lead Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design, development and continuous improvement of electronic products from concept through to production. As a senior member of the Electronics Design team, you'll provide technical leadership, contribute to innovative product development programs, and collaborate closely with manufacturing, quality, sourcing and international stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions that meet customer and market needs.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading electronic design activities across new product development and product improvement projects
• Conducting feasibility assessments and supporting business case development for new product concepts
• Designing analogue and digital electronic circuits and PCB layouts using Altium
• Developing, testing and validating prototypes and production-ready solutions
• Preparing technical documentation including BOMs, specifications, test reports, assembly instructions and product documentation
• Providing technical leadership and guidance to engineers within the Electronics Design team
• Supporting project teams with technical expertise, planning and execution activities
• Troubleshooting design and production issues through root cause analysis and corrective actions
• Collaborating with local and offshore suppliers, manufacturers and certification bodies
• Ensuring products comply with Australian and New Zealand standards and regulatory requirements
• Driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product performance, quality and manufacturability
• Promoting and maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality and engineering excellence

What we're looking for

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
• Demonstrated experience in electronic product design and development within a manufacturing or product development environment
• Strong analogue and digital circuit design capability
• Experience developing products from concept through to production
• Knowledge of embedded firmware development
• Experience with one or more of the following:
• Switch mode power supplies
• Battery charging circuits
• Low-voltage electrical equipment
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings, technical specifications and quality standards
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Strong communication skills and the ability to influence and collaborate with multiple stakeholders
• Experience mentoring engineers or providing technical leadership will be highly regarded
