Job summary

Legrand is seeking an experienced Lead Electronic Design Engineer to join our R&D team in Prestons, NSW. You will lead electronic design activities from concept through production, providing technical leadership and collaborating with manufacturing, quality, sourcing and international stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.

You will design analogue and digital circuits, develop prototypes and production-ready solutions using Altium, and ensure compliance with Australian and New Zealand

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
• Experience in electronic product design and development within a manufacturing or product development environment
• Strong analogue and digital circuit design capability
• Experience developing products from concept through to production
• Knowledge of embedded firmware development
• Experience with switch mode power supplies, LED lighting products, battery charging circuits, low-voltage electrical equipment
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings, technical specifications and quality standards
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Strong communication skills and the ability to influence and collaborate with multiple stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Leading electronic design activities across new product development and product improvement projects
• Conducting feasibility assessments and supporting business case development for new product concepts
• Designing analogue and digital electronic circuits and PCB layouts using Altium
• Developing, testing and validating prototypes and production-ready solutions
• Preparing technical documentation including BOMs, specifications, test reports, assembly instructions and product documentation
• Providing technical leadership and guidance to engineers within the Electronics Design team
• Supporting project teams with technical expertise, planning and execution activities
• Troubleshooting design and production issues through root cause analysis and corrective actions
• Collaborating with local and offshore suppliers, manufacturers and certification bodies
• Ensuring products comply with Australian and New Zealand standards and regulatory requirements

Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Lead Electronic Design Engineer to join our R&D team based in Prestons, NSW. Reporting to the Lead Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design, development and continuous improvement of electronic products from concept through to production. As a senior member of the Electronics Design team, you’ll provide technical leadership, contribute to innovative product development programs, and collaborate closely with manufacturing, quality, sourcing and international stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions that meet customer and market needs.

Key responsibilities

Leading electronic design activities across new product development and product improvement projects

About you
