Job summary

Recruitment Hive is seeking experienced Lead Data Scientists for a federal government department supporting Australia’s agricultural exports and biosecurity. Lead the design and delivery of data pipelines, predictive analytics and AI-enabled products to protect industries and inform policy.

The role requires strong SQL, Python/R skills, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to present complex analytics to non-technical executives. Sydney-based, full-time.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience delivering data engineering solutions including pipelines and transformations.
• Proven ability to create and deploy predictive and prescriptive analytics in the biosecurity domain.
• Experience translating business needs into data products and communicating with non-technical stakeholders.

Our client, a federal government department who support Australia’s agricultural exports and manage biosecurity risks to protect our agricultural industries and way of life, is seeking an experienced ofmultiple Lead Data Scientists.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Demonstrated experience operating as a data scientist in data/analytics contexts, including stakeholder management, discovery, documentation of requirements, and translating business needs into implementable data solutions;
• Hands-on data engineering experience delivering pipelines and transformations, with strong SQL, Python and R and experience working with modern data platforms and orchestration patterns;
• Experience implementing data quality controls (profiling, validation rules, reconciliation, exception handling) and producing clear documentation (data mapping, lineage, runbooks);

Skills and Experience Required

• Proven ability to create and deploy advanced predictive and prescriptive analytical models specific to business entity resolution in the biosecurity domain;
• Proven experience in creating and deploying advanced predictive and prescriptive analytical models specific to business entity resolution in the biosecurity domain;
• Demonstrated experience in providing accurate, timely and appropriate advice and updates to clients and stakeholders. This includes presenting sophisticated analytical products to non-technical audience and senior executive.
