Job summary

Recruitment Hive is assisting a client in Canberra to recruit a Data & Visual Analyst who will develop Power BI dashboards and ETL pipelines in Microsoft Fabric. The role requires translating business needs into scalable analytics solutions and leading requirements workshops with stakeholders.

You'll apply data modelling, ensure data quality, and leverage cross-domain data sources (ERP/CRM/ITSM) to deliver clear, actionable reports. Baseline security clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Apply data modelling principles (e.g. star schema, relationships, measures) to build scalable reporting solutions.
• Experience with Power BI report/dashboard development, DAX, data modelling, Power Query (M) and Row-Level Security (RLS).
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric including dataflows, Lakehouses, notebooks and Deployment Pipelines. Knowledge of OneLake and the broader Fabric ecosystem is highly regarded.
• Strong SQL skills across relational and lakehouse sources.
• Exposure to enterprise data sources such as ERP, CRM and ITSM platforms, and integrating these into unified reporting environments.

Our client, responsible for planning, investing in and overseeing research, development and extension (RD&E) activities across 27 leviable grain crops, is seeking an experienced Data & Visual Analyst to join their team.

Duties of the Data & Visual Analyst

• Develop high-quality corporate reports and dashboards using Power BI and other analytics and visualisation tools;
• Design and build ETL/data preparation processes (dataflows, pipelines, notebooks) within Microsoft Fabric to prepare data for reporting and analytics use;
• Analyse data to identify constraints, quality issues or limitations, and provide design advice to ensure reports are accurate and not misleading;
• Lead and facilitate requirements-gathering workshops with business stakeholders, translating business needs into practical, well-scoped analytics and reporting solutions;
• Represent the business area to other business groups and perform other skills as required.

Skills and Experience Required

• Apply data modelling principles (e.g. star schema, relationships, measures) to build scalable, maintainable reporting solutions;
• Familiarity with data visualisation/UX design principles to ensure reports are clear, accessible, and intuitive for end users is an advantage;
• Strong experience with Power BI, including report and dashboard development, DAX, data modelling, Power Query (M) and Row-Level Security (RLS);
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric, including dataflows, Lakehouses, notebooks and Deployment Pipelines. Knowledge of OneLake and the broader Fabric ecosystem is highly regarded;
• Strong SQL skills, including querying and validating data across relational and lakehouse sources;
• Exposure to enterprise data sources such as ERP, CRM and ITSM platforms, and integrating these into unified reporting environments, is advantageous.
