Job summary

Recruitment Hive is seeking experienced Lead Data Scientists for a federal government department supporting Australia’s agricultural exports and biosecurity. Lead the design and delivery of data pipelines, predictive analytics and AI-enabled products to protect industries and inform policy.

The role requires strong SQL, Python/R skills, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to present complex analytics to non-technical executives. Sydney-based, full-time.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience delivering data engineering solutions including pipelines and transformations.
• Proven ability to create and deploy predictive and prescriptive analytics in the biosecurity domain.
• Experience translating business needs into data products and communicating with non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrated experience operating as a data scientist in data/analytics contexts, including stakeholder management and translating business needs into data solutions.
• Hands-on data engineering experience delivering pipelines and transformations with SQL, Python and R.
• Experience implementing data quality controls and documenting data flows and lineage.
