Job summary

CommBank in Melbourne is seeking a Data Scientist, Data Science & AI to design and deliver applied AI solutions within Institutional Banking. You will connect advanced modelling with commercial objectives to create measurable business impact.

You will lead end-to-end AI initiatives, mentor graduates, and collaborate with engineers, risk, and business partners to ensure safe, scalable deployment in a highly regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Proven record of delivering AI solutions end-to-end.
• Experience in financial markets or quantitative finance is a plus.
• Strong Python/SQL and ML knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Lead AI initiatives end to end, from problem definition to production deployment and monitoring.
• Set technical direction while staying on the tools.
• Translate complex commercial and markets problems into scalable ML and agentic AI solutions.
• Establish modelling, validation, governance and monitoring to meet risk requirements.
• Partner withBusiness, engineering, risk and governance teams to deliver safe outcomes.
• Develop data scientists and graduates through coaching and technical leadership.
