Job summary

AECOM in Cairns is expanding its Water Infrastructure team to deliver water and wastewater projects across Australia and New Zealand. You’ll join a multidisciplinary group handling design, delivery, and construction support on large-scale, iconic projects.

You will apply your civil engineering degree to detailed designs, collaborate with clients, mentors, and junior engineers, and help shape tenders with strong project management and commercial insight. Hybrid work options are available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with professional recognition (CPEng and/or RPEQ).
• Experience delivering detailed potable water and wastewater network designs.
• Exposure to the full project lifecycle from planning to commissioning.
• Experience in consultancy and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
• Strong written and verbal communication with clients and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver impactful water and wastewater projects, collaborating within a supportive, multi-disciplinary team
• Play a hands‑on role across the full project journey, from bids and concept design through to delivery and construction support
• Help keep projects on track by balancing quality, timelines, and budgets with strong organisation and attention to detail
• Build meaningful relationships with clients and colleagues across diverse sectors, creating positive and lasting partnerships
• Shape winning tenders by applying your project management skills and commercial insight
• Support and uplift emerging engineers through mentoring, while continuing to grow and invest in your own career journey.
