Job summary

The Department of Transport and Main Roads is seeking a Principal Engineer to manage the operational aspects of road infrastructure project delivery and to provide leadership and technical expertise to project managers on design, construction and maintenance projects and the operation of road networks.

Qualifications

• Four-year, WA-accredited BE (Civil) or equivalent.
• RPEQ registration mandatory.
• Current Class C driver's license.
• Criminal history check required.
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead MPO program delivery for state and federal networks.
• Evaluate design options, materials, and resources for projects.
• Ensure adherence to standards, guidelines, and policies.
• Supervise resource allocation and foster teamwork.
• Maintain stakeholder alliances and manage expectations.
• Lead multi-disciplinary teams to plan and deliver infrastructure projects.
• Manage road network impacts through processes and resources.
• Proficient in contract and construction management.
• Interpret planning and design principles to meet client needs.
