Job summary

PCR Talent in Canberra seeks an experienced Civil Designer or Drafting Team Leader to head a drafting section within a Tier 1 engineering consultancy. You will lead and mentor a capable civil drafting team, ensure high delivery standards, and coordinate with engineers and project managers on urban development projects.

Role involves managing workloads, reviewing technical drawings, and shaping the drafting function for future Canberra team capability. A competitive salary is on offer.

Qualifications

• Strong civil drafting and design experience within an engineering consultancy.
• Advanced 12D capability is essential.
• Experience leading or supervising a drafting and design team.
• Solid understanding of urban development projects.
• Experience across roads, earthworks, drainage, utilities and subdivisions.
• Civil 3D experience would be helpful but not mandatory.
• Exposure to MUSIC and DRAINS would be an additional advantage.
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to coordinate competing priorities with engineers, clients and other disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operation of the civil drafting team.
• Allocate workloads and monitor project deadlines.
• Review drawings, designs and technical documentation.
• Maintain drafting standards and quality procedures.
• Coordinate closely with civil engineers and project managers.
• Mentor and develop junior and intermediate team members.
• Support delivery of major urban development projects throughout the Canberra region.
• Assist with resource planning and future team growth.
